1. Information we collect

Information collected automatically. When you visit, our servers and analytics tools record technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), and the date and time of each visit.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, website (optional), IP address, and browser user-agent you provide or that is sent with the submission. Comments and the names shown with them are public.

Contact forms and email. If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and your message, and we use them to reply.

Email alerts. If you subscribe to alerts, we collect your email address and any preferences you set, and we use them to send the alerts you requested. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell personal information.

2. How we use information

  • To operate, secure, and maintain the Site, including blocking spam and abusive traffic;
  • To understand how the Site is used and improve content and performance;
  • To publish and moderate comments, and to respond to messages;
  • To send alerts you subscribed to (if applicable);
  • To measure affiliate performance and, if enabled, show advertising;
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our service providers use them for essential site functions, for remembering your comment details if you choose, for analytics, and for affiliate or advertising partners. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it through a cookie notice.

4. Third-party services

Google Analytics and Google Site Kit. We use Google Analytics to understand traffic. Google collects data such as IP address and browsing activity on our Site and processes it under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. To opt out, use Google’s browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Google Search Console. We use Search Console to see how our pages appear in search. It reports search performance to us and does not give us your personal data.

Amazon Associates and other affiliate programs. Links to retailers may set cookies on their sites so purchases can be attributed to us. Their handling of your data is governed by their own policies. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visit to our Site and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at https://adssettings.google.com or https://optout.aboutads.info. Learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Hosting, caching, and security providers. Our hosting provider and security and caching tools process requests and logs to deliver and protect the Site.

Embedded content. Pages may embed content such as videos or maps from other sites. Those sites may collect data about you when you view the embedded content.

5. Legal bases (EEA, UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we process personal data based on our legitimate interests (running, securing, and improving the Site), your consent (for non-essential cookies and email alerts), and legal obligations where applicable.

6. Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site (hosting, analytics, security, email delivery), when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

8. Retention

We keep server logs and analytics data for as long as needed for security and reporting, comments until they are deleted, and messages and subscriber data for as long as needed to respond or provide the service, or as the law requires.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents may also request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and may ask us not to sell or share it; we do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, email survivalsiren@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

10. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no online service is completely secure.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. Where required by law we honor opt-out preference signals; otherwise the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the changes.
